We are Anne Krekels, Inez Robbertz and Jeroen de Ruijter, senior year physical therapy students at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Heerlen, the Netherlands. Our bachelor thesis is about ‘analogy learning (implicit motor leaning) in people after stroke’. Our study aims to investigate whether people after stroke that respond well to analogy learning (responders) adopt specific patient characteristics that influence this proces. For example, do people with cognitive impairments respond equally well to analogy learning compared to those who don’t? Do people that found the analogy meaningful respond better to the analogies than those who didn’t? We hope that our results can help fellow physical therapists to decide which therapy is best suited for their patients.
