We are Helen Buzengeiger and Katharina Schüssler, physiotherapy students at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Heerlen. In our senior year, we are doing an internship and meanwhile we are working on our bachelor thesis. The topic of our thesis is analogy learning and its use for motor learning in patients with cognitive impairments. Therefore, we are developing a guideline for therapists, which shows in which ways analogy learning can be used. We are trying to transfer the known parameters of analogy learning in atheletes to the target group patients with cognitive impairments, and combine these parameters with new ideas. Furthermore, we will evaluate how therapists experience treatment sessions including analogy learning, which benefits they experiences and where they encountered problems. The results of this study are expected in the summer of 2015.
