Challenging elderly to be active

Physical inactivity is a problem that is becoming more significant. Being inactive has many physical and psychological disadvantages, especially for elderly within nursing homes. The Sphero project tries to tackle this problem.

The Sphero is a ball that is controllable via Bluetooth. Therefore, it can be controlled by different kind of devices. Through gamification / persuasive design, the Sphero project will challenge and persuade elderly within a nursing home to become more active for a longer period of time. In addition, the project will focus on rehabilitation and balance coordination.

This project is currently being developed. Results of the final project on feasibility and potential effects are expected in the summer of 2014.
